TROPANG TEM AND SAKADA CHURCH – GO INTO ALL CONNERS OF THE WORLD

God’s love has no boundaries. It doesn’t matter where you are He will find you.

            Tropang Tem and Sakada village are far from Siem Reap town (65Km and 85 Km). We never expect to be in these villages. My prayer was for God’s direction to nearer villages to share the gospel and plant churches but that was never happened. After praying for two years, the Lord led us to a remote village of Svay Leo district, around 90 Km from town. We met an old Christian man who used to serve in the army of the Khmer Rouge. At first I couldn’t believe that he was a Christian. He looks very fierce and unfriendly. As we began our conversation I became to realize that God has really transformed this man. We talked about anything, from our experience as soldiers to how we survived the war. We got connected very well as we shared some similar experiences in our lives.

           

            When we were about to return to town, I told the man that I would like to come back again to  So we began our regular visit to the village.

would like to visit his friend in a village nearby. We agreed to his request and went to visit his friend, Mr. Bun who was also a Khmer Rouge soldier. We spent about two hours at the new village. At first only family members of Mr. Bun was presence. After a while other people also came. They were so interested to hear about Jesus as they had never heard about Him before. As it was late, we said goodbye and returned to town. Before we left, I asked the people there, especially Mr. Bun if we could come back again. He said he would love us to return to his village and tell him and his people more about Jesus.

God healed the hurt and reconciled the villagers

We have noticed that only people from one part of the village came to Mr. Bun’s house to attend the Bible studies and fellowship. We didn’t know why and was not intended to ask anything about that yet. As one year has passed we feel that we should reach out to more people in the village rather than just Mr. Bun family and his neighbors. So we organized a Christmas program by inviting everyone in the village to come. We were not sure if they would turned up. As we were preparing for the program on the day, we saw people started coming, and 95% of the villagers turned up. We had a good time together even though there was some disruption from the government police. We got connected to more people and was invited to visit their homes. As we began to talk to more people in the village, we realized that the villagers are divided into three sections, the old villagers, the new comers and the former Khmer Rouge people. The old villagers always keep their wrath toward the former Khmer Rouge people as they felt that they have suffered so much under the rule of the regime. The former Khmer Rouge people also felt the same to the old villagers. Both the former Khmer Rouge people and the old villagers did not feel good toward the new comers as they felt that the new comer came to take their land and destroy their culture.

            As time went by, some people from the old villagers were also accepted Christ and attend the fellowship. People from the new part of the village were also attended the fellowship. But they didn’t sit together. They sing the same songs, worship the same God and hear the reading of the Word of God from the same Bible, they were not together.  It went on for a while until sometimes almost to the end of the second year, God made them sit together.

During the raining season, wind blew from different direction every Saturday. Some Saturday when it rain, the wind blew from the direction where the old villagers were sitting. So they have no choice but move toward where the former Khmer Rouge people were sitting and sat among them. The next Saturday, wind blew from where the new villagers were sitting, and the new villagers had to move to where the old villagers were sitting and sat with them. This happened the same to the former Khmer Rouge people. Slowly, without realizing they sat together as one group of people. They began to talk to each other, shared theirs though and had fun together. God healed the hurt in them and reconciled them. Praise be to God.

Now see each other as one. They travel on the same road, drink from the same wells. And most of all worshipping the same God.

Now Tropang Tem church attendant is 35 youth, 20 adults and 80 children. I pray that this church will grow stronger and will be the center to reach out to more villages around. We are now reaching out to 3 other villages around the area.

Agriculture Projects

Raining Season Finally Comes After Long Hot Summer 

Summer was hot, really hot this year. Many well and ponds out in the villages dried off. People were struggling to get clean water. Many cows died of hot weather. Our fruit trees were also affected. We spent a bit of money to buy water to water the fruit tree, to make sure it survived to the raining season. Raining season is finally here!

As it begin to rain heavier and heavier, we face another problem, flooding and bad road condition. Every raining season, we face problem of transportation to the villages. Roads to some villages are just too difficult to travel. It looks like that we face different problems in different seasons. But God is good, he always provide us with the alternatives. 

In our effort to becoming self supporting, we begin our agriculture projects. One of them is the chicken bank project and the other is fruit tree plantation. The chicken bank project supported by Faith Methodist Church in Singapore. The project seeks to help church members and villagers to have a better livelihood by providing them a farm with 8 hens and 2 roosters and other feeding material. Some farms are doing well yet some other still struggling to make profits. We are also planing to build a medium size farm for a group of youth in one of our churches. The farm will serve two purposes. One,  to provide the youth the skill of running the farm as business, and to provide resource for their education. 

Cashew Plantations 

We also planted 100 cashew trees in Tropang Tem Church land and 150 lime, jackfruit and mango trees  in Sakada village. 

Our next agriculture project would be bamboo plantation and green orange trees. We are seeking help to purchase land and the capital to start this project. We need 2 hectares of land for green orange trees plantation and 10 hectares for bamboo plantation. The project will be able to generate good amount of money to support the church planting and discipleship ministry. Please pray with us. (Please contact Rev. A few prayer requests we would like to share with you;

1. Please continue to pray for our need of a pick up truck for church planting and discipleship ministry. We need around US$15,000.00 to US$18,000.00 for the truck. 
2. Please pray for good amount of rain so that the villagers would be able to farm well and that the harvest will be better.
3. Please pray for Tropang Tem and Sakada Church for steady growth. Pray that God will raise leaders among the people of these churches. 
4. Please for protection as some part of the new villages we go to are still at risk of land mines. 
5. Please pray for provision for our ministry. We are short financially this year. 

January 2015 Updates - The Year begins with great blessings

There is so much to thank God for. He is good all the time!

The new year 2015 begins with so much great blessing. Around 60 people were baptised on the second week of January 2015. A group of villagers from a new village came to one of our worship services and 25 of them prayed to accept Christ into their lives.

A piece of land was purchased and a new worship hall was built for another village church. We praise God and grateful for a team from Pathway Fellowship, California for their services and funding for the new building and the land. Pathway has been coming to help us in the past years and they are faithful in their partnership with us. They have blessed so many lives. To Pathway team 2015, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

We also would like to thank Faith Methodist Church and students team from ACJC Singapore for

coming to help us build bridge with the villagers and a school nearby. Faith Methodist Church help donated fund for the construction of a wooden building for Rohal school. The building will be used for two classrooms for the secondary classes. The students were having their classes under a not so good structure for years. Last year, the structure collapsed and the principal could not find any place to house the two classes. We thank God for the responds from Faith MC  to help with the building and sending students team to work with us.
Now the grade 8 and 9 students have their proper classroom. To God be the Glory!!!

We also want to express our thank to Young Asian Women Development team for their services
among our village churches children, youth and adults. They served around 400 children and youth and around 100 adults. They have shown so much love and kindness to the children in the villages and that really soften the harden hearts of the villagers.

God is bringing more people to help us in our church planting ministry.

We always pray for more labourers for God ready filed and He is answering our prayers.

We are going in to another new village this coming Saturday with a team from Singapore. Most of the team members are young. They are interested in serving God full time in the future. So it would be a good experience for them to work directly with the unreach villagers in the rural areas.

Please continue to pray for us that we will remain faithful in reaching out to the unreach people. Pray that God will build our team even stronger so that we can impact more lives. Please also pray for our financial need for ministry.

We are in need of a 4 wheels vehicle for our village works. Please pray with us. We need between US$15,000.00 to US$18,000.00
